Georginio Wijnaldum has admitted that he had talked with the Tottenham manger Mauricio Pochettino before his move from Newcastle to Liverpool two years ago.
27 years old Gini moved from St. James’ Park to the Anfield back in July of 2016 following a 5 years contract for an initial fee of 23 million pounds. Hover he did not made the move before talking to the Spurs boss.
Before going for the match of Liverpool against Tottenham Spurs this Saturday, Gini told media that “I met with Pochettino before I left the Newcastle. I just felt that at that time that Liverpool must come to an agreement fast. As for Tottenham they have shown quality for not only their players but also for their manger. I always saw Tottenham as a team like Liverpool who wanted to play great football. They are looking forward to better solutions and play even during the game. This is why people call this a Big game.”
Wijnaldum was not able to face Spurs in the last year match against Spurs that was held in Wembley due to knee injury that resulted with Liverpool’s defeat by 4-1. However he still remembers that match perfectly.
Recalling that day he told media, “It was not a good day at all. I like the Tottenham team and I can name all its players like Demblee, Erikson, Son and Ali. We are all the same, trying to chase the team at the very top.”
In this year’s season, Liverpool is currently at the top and many are even predicting that they can very well win their first title in the last 29 years. However Gini is not over confident about all this.”
