Olivier Giroud took the chance at the penalty shot to score the winning golfer France in their match against Moldova to win the game by 2-1 at the group stage qualifiers of the European Championship. With this win, France now moves ahead of Turkey in the qualifiers.
Olivier Giroud was able to make the spot-kick and into the left corner of the net during eh 79th minute after team’s left-back named Lucas Digne got tripped while turning after receiving a pass.
With this goal, Olivier Giroud has now made 39 international goals and is now only 2 goals short of France’s Michel Platini for the list of the all-time scorers. That list being topped by Thierry Henry at the moment with 51 goals.
France had already been able to qualify for the European Championship 2020 after Turkey drew 0-0 against Iceland. This win only confirms the top two spots for the Group H of the European Championship 2020.
France, at the moment, is 2 points ahead of Turkey and is now going to complete its qualifier matches with a game against Albania on Sunday.
Deschamps, the coach of France was still not happy with his team’s performance as he said, “we did not play well in the 1st half. I am not satisfied with the way we attacked during the 1st half as there was not too much momentum from us. We were too static out there. Yes, I can be very hard on my guys sometimes. This is only because there is so much potential in this side and when I don’t see what I want to see, then say no.”
Earlier, crowd of France had been disappointed following a goal from Moldova with only 9 minutes into the 1st half which was due to the poor defending of Clément Lenglet, France’s goalkeeper. However, France was then able to equalize the game with a goal during the 35th minute and then later in the 2nd half to win the game.
