Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakesh; Benoit Paire win his second career ATP singles title

Frenchman Benoit Paire won his 2nd career ATP singles title after defeating the Spanish player Pablo Andujar by 6-2 and 6-3 at the final of Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakesh.

Andujar’s service was broken twice by the world rank no. 69 who was the deeding champion of the tournament. Paire managed to win the tournament and add the title to his already won Swedish Open title from 2015.

As for Andujar, he was bidding to win the trophy for the 4th time as he had previously won the tournament back in 2011, 20-12 and 2018. He failed in his efforts and slipped for his 4th defeat in a row at hands of the Frenchman.

As for the 29 years old Paire, he earlier defeated his fellow Frenchman Jo Wilfred Tsonga in the semi-finals match.

Elsewhere, Christian Garin managed to be the first Chilean player to win the ATP tour title in the last 10 years after he defeated his Norwegian opponent Casper Rudd by 7-6, 4-6 and 6-3 at the fans of the US Men’s Clay Court Championship in Houston.

22 years old Christian is the first Chilean player in the last 10 years to have won the ATP Tour title. The last player for Chile to win a title was Fernando Gonzalez who won it back in 2009 in Vina del Mar.

As for the tournament in Copa Colsanitas in Bogota, the teenager from America, Amanda Anisimova won her first WTA title after defeating Astra Sharma at the final.

17 years old player managed to make a comeback from being a set down to win over her Australian opponent by 4-6, 6-4 and 6-1.

With winning the first career title, Anisimova will now be climbing up 29 places on the ranking board to make it to her best career ranking of no. 54.
