Green lifts Australian WPGA for third win in a row

Australia’s Hannah Green continued her remarkable run of form by securing a historic victory at the Australian WPGA Championship, completing a stunning hat-trick of international titles. With this achievement, she became the first Australian female golfer to win three consecutive international tournaments, marking a significant milestone in her career.

The 29-year-old entered the event with considerable momentum, having already claimed victories at the Australian Open and the Women’s World Championship in Singapore. These back-to-back triumphs had placed her in excellent form heading into the Ladies European Tour competition, and she carried that confidence onto the course.

Competing at the picturesque Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club on the Gold Coast, Green delivered a composed and controlled performance throughout the tournament. She entered the final round with a two-shot advantage and successfully maintained her lead, ultimately finishing four strokes clear of the field.

In the decisive round, Green recorded a steady two-under-par 69. While it was not her most aggressive round of the week, it proved more than sufficient to secure victory. Her consistency and ability to handle pressure were evident as she avoided major mistakes and capitalized on key opportunities.

By the end of the tournament, Green posted an impressive total of 16-under-par, comfortably ahead of her nearest challengers. Germany’s Alexandra Forsterling and South Africa’s Casandra Alexander both finished tied for second place at 12-under-par. Despite strong efforts from both players, they were unable to close the gap on Green, who remained in control throughout the final stages.

Reflecting on her victory, Green described the past month as extraordinary. Winning three consecutive tournaments in such a short period is a rare feat in professional golf, and achieving it on home soil made the accomplishment even more special. She expressed her खुशी and gratitude for being able to perform at such a high level in front of Australian fans.

Interestingly, this success on the Ladies European Tour represents a relatively new chapter in Green’s career. Prior to her Australian Open victory earlier in the year, she had never won an event on the LET. Now, she has quickly established herself as a dominant force on the tour.

Green’s career has already included major success, most notably her triumph at the Women’s PGA Championship in 2019. That victory marked her breakthrough on the global stage, and her recent performances suggest she is once again reaching peak form.

A unique aspect of her recent success has been the role played by her husband, Jarryd Felton. Felton has been acting as her caddie during this winning streak, providing support both on and off the course. He also carried her bag during her previous two victories, contributing to what has become a memorable and successful partnership.

Green’s usual caddie has been unable to travel due to visa-related issues, which led to Felton stepping in. Despite the unexpected change, the arrangement has worked exceptionally well. The couple, who married in 2024, have a strong understanding of each other’s games, and their collaboration has clearly paid dividends.

Interestingly, their partnership extends both ways, as Green has previously taken on caddie duties for Felton in his own tournaments. This mutual support highlights the close bond between the two and adds a personal dimension to her recent achievements.

Beyond the top three finishers, there were several notable performances in the tournament. England’s Meghan MacLaren secured fourth place with a total score of 10-under-par after a final-round 71. Her consistent play throughout the event ensured a strong finish, even though she was unable to challenge for the शीर्ष position.

Other players also delivered competitive performances. Finland’s Noora Komulainen and New Zealand’s Amelia Garvey finished tied at nine-under-par, showcasing their ability to compete at a high level.

Among the British contingent, there were mixed results. Annabell Fuller finished at eight-under-par, while Charlotte McGinty and Gemma Clews ended the tournament at three-under-par. Alice Hewson and Emma Hamilton also competed, finishing around level par and slightly above.

Scotland’s Kelsey MacDonald had a particularly noteworthy moment early in the tournament, recording a course-record 64 in the opening round. However, she was unable to maintain that level of performance over the following rounds and eventually finished in a tie for 41st place at two-over-par.

Despite these strong individual performances, the tournament ultimately belonged to Hannah Green. Her ability to maintain composure, execute under pressure, and build on her recent success set her apart from the rest of the field.

This victory not only reinforces her position as one of the top players in women’s golf but also highlights her potential to achieve even greater success in the future. Currently ranked among the world’s elite, Green’s consistent performances suggest she is well-positioned to compete for more titles in the coming months.

Her recent achievements have also brought increased attention to Australian women’s golf, inspiring the next generation of players. Winning three consecutive international tournaments is a rare accomplishment, and doing so as an Australian makes her success even more significant for the sport in her home country.

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Green to see whether she can continue this impressive run. With her confidence at an all-time high and a strong support system in place, she appears well-equipped to maintain her momentum.

In conclusion, Hannah Green’s triumph at the Australian WPGA Championship represents a defining moment in her career. It is a testament to her skill, determination, and ability to perform under pressure. By achieving a historic three-peat, she has firmly established herself as one of the leading figures in women’s golf today.
