Gordon Hayward was way off the target on his six free throws for the Celtics in their previous game and he also missed a pair of long for the team against the Timberwolves match.
However, he quickly recovered from it.
He scored a 3-pointer from the right side and then another one from the left. A basket from the lane was followed by a dunk and then by three straight free throws making him 4 for 4 in the second quarter while being 7 of 8 in the third quarter.
Hayward came off the bench to score 35 points and led the Boston Celtics to win over the Minnesota Timberwolves by 115-102 on Wednesday night basketball game.
Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau said about Hayward, “Gordon’s a good player and tonight we basically gave him everything he needed. When you do these kinds of things in the league, they are going to make you pay.”
As for the Timberwolves, they were led by Andrew Wiggins who scored 321 points while Karl-Anthony Towns added in his 28 points, 200 of which were scored in the third quarter. Towns also added in his 5 rebounds for the night.
Thibodeau had to call a quick timeout of 64 seconds into the game after the Timberwolves gave up two quick baskets. He said about it, “the start of the game was poor. You start off a game like that and give them a little confidence, and then it is hard to stop them.”
Up next, Minnesota Timberwolves will play against the Orlando Magic at home on Friday night while Boston Celtics will host a game against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night.
