The Sunday night was special for the Miami Heat as they got back their record of 500 wins and gave out their coach Erik Spoelstra his 500th coaching win.
The Sunday night game of basketball between Miami Heat VS Orlando Magic ended with a victory for the Heat by 115-91 who are currently on their five-game winning streak.
Miami Heat were led by Tyler Johnson who scored 25 points. 20 of his 25 points were scored by him in the third quarter. Other players from Miami, Justice Winslow scored 22 points while Josh Richardson finished for the night with his 15 points and 10 rebounds. Miami have beaten Magic for the first time this season in their past three meetings.
As for Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade, who was most likely playing his last game in Orlando with the team, scored 10 points and four assists in his 24 minutes on the court.
Wade said, “I definitely think that four wins in a row, is the best thing for us to play and against such a team like Magic. They really had our numbers this year. It made us focus as to what not to do to lose against them three times in a row.”
Spoelstra has been the coach for the Miami Heat since the 2008-2009 season and has a career coaching record of 500-336 along with two NBA titles to his name.
Talking about his 500th career coaching win he said humbly,
“The milestone win. However, it does not even seem real to me and that is why I am very grateful for this opportunity. There had been a lot of low points and a lot of incredible moments in my career. However, you don’t get to survive those low points if you do not put your belief in the people above your own self.”
As for Orlando Magic, who lost their third straight game, they were led by Evan Fournier who scored 17 points for the team.
Coach Steve Collard said, “Obviously we have sot our way a little here which is quite normal to happen through an NBA season. The Heat were rolling and they played a great game. They shot the ball well.”
Heat on Sunday night came into the game with worst NBA field goal percentage at 0.492 but they shot 43 for 84 at 0.506.
Up next, Miami Heat will play a game against Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night whereas Orlando Magic will play a game against Phoenix Suns at home on Wednesday night.
