In the world cup match between Australia and Sri Lanka, Aaron Finch took the lead of Australian team as he scored the tournament equaling sore high of 153 runs to win the match with an 83-run victory in a match held at the Oval. With this win, Australia now moves to the top of the scoring World Cup table.
Finch faced 132 deliveries during which he scored 15 fours and 5 sixes as the team set a chase target for the Sri Lankan team at 335 runs. As for Sri Lankan team, they looked really well off in the batting order as their first wicket fell at 115 runs.
However, the team soon looked in trouble as Sri Lankan captain Dimuth Karunaratne wicket fell with mere 3 runs short of making his first ODI century. His wicket fell at 186-3 with the 2whole team being removed at 247 runs.
With this and their 4th overall victory, Australia has now moved up to the first place in the 10 team table while Sri Lanka stands at 5th place as they have only won 1 match out of the last 5.
Finch’s unlucky fifth toss loss proved rather fruitful for his team yet again. He earlier stated that he would have rather bowled if they had won the toss.
With Finch and his team going at the pitch and stopped all the way by making a chase target of 334 with a loss of 7 wickets. The Australian team pummeled through the first 10 overs power play by making 83 runs which is the highest one in the tournament so far.
While Sri Lankan team had the chance to make a comeback, after the loss of their first 2 wickets their wickets started to tumble with pace as they lost 6 wickets at mere 81 runs and shortly the whole team bowled out at 247 runs in with a little over 4 overs to spare, thus concluding the match at The Oval.
