Indian Wells; Cameron Norrie beaten in first round

Cameron Norrie hopes to advance further into the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells were halted in the first round after he was defeated by Felix Auger-Aliassime.

The 23 years old Norrie was beaten by 6-3 and 6-2 by the hands of wildcard Felix Auger-Aliassime. In a little over 1 hour.

The British player fell behind on his opening service of the first set and could never recover from the breakpoint to get the serve back in the coming five games.

As for Felix Auger-Aliassime, he further broke two serves in the second set to win by over 80 percent while Norrie had 59 percent of the serve point.

On the other hand, Leonardo Mayer managed to defeat the wildcard Reilly Opelka in their match to reach the second round. Opelka was defeated by the Argentinean player by 7-8 and 7-6.

As for the match between Marcos Giron and Jeremy Chardy, the world no. 217 defeated the Frenchman Chardy by 7-6 and 7-6.

In the women’s singles matches, Venus Williams managed to win over Andrea Petkovic by 6-4, 0-6 and 6-3 to cruise into the second round. Venus will now face the world no. 3 Petra Kvitova.

Not only Venus but Monica Puig, Madison Brengle, and Kristina Mladenovic have all advanced into the second round of the tournament.
