Two of the high ranking tennis players; Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are on course for a semi-final clash at the desert after they both made it into the last 8 of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells on Wednesday.
The fourth seed player, Roger Federer who is aiming for his record sixth title at Indian Wells easily defeated his opponent Kyle Edmund by 6-1 and 6-4.
Federer also breezed through the most of the match; he was still tested by British no. 1 Edmund in the final game when Edmund scored three break points. However, Federer managed to save them all as he booked himself for the 13th quarterfinals of the Indian Wells of his career.
Up next, Federer will be playing against the Polish player Hubert Hurkacz. Hubert shocked Kei Nishikori earlier to reach his first Masters 1000 quarterfinal of the career.
As for Rafael Nadal, he continues his ruthless form at the tournament when he defeated Filip Krajinovic by 6-3 and 6-4.
On their match on the windy and sunny day of California, the second seed Spanish player only lost one serve.
Nadal will now be facing the Russian star Karen Khachanov who defeated John Isner to reach the quarterfinals.
As for the hard-hitting Milos Raonic from Canada, he will be playing against Miomir Kecmanovic. Raonic made it into the quarterfinals by defeating German player Jan-Lennard Struff by 6-4 and 6-3.
As for the women’s draw, the Canadian teenager Bianca Andreescu managed to defeat the two-time winner of the event Garbine Muguruza by 6-0 and 6-1 in only 52 minutes as he made it into the semi-finals.
The world no. 60 Andreescu will be now up against the sixth seed player Elina Svitolina who earlier defeated her opponent Marketa Vondrousova.
