Johanna Konta, the British no. 1 player managed to win over her semis opponent Kiki Bertens by 5-7, 7-5 and 6-2 to reach the Final of the Italian Open on Friday at Rome for the very first time in her career.
Konta who turned 28 years old on Friday was trailing behind the loss of 3 games but made a comeback to perform splendidly on the clay court.
The unseeded Brit was able to defeat the world no. 4 and Dutch no. 1 player after 2 hours and 47 minutes long match. Bertens had earlier won the Madrid Open title back on last week.
As for Konta, she lost her first final of the season back at Morocco Open but will get to redeem herself with a title win if she manages to defeat the winner of match between Maria Sakkari and Carolina Pliskova. The final will be played on Sunday.
With Konta beating he 7th seeded Kiki Bertens, she has managed to defeat a world top 5 ranked player for the second time in her career. Earlier she defeated Simona Halep back in 2017 at the Wimbledon.
