In the European Championship qualifier’s match held on Friday between Italy and Bosnia, Italy was able to beat Bosnia by 3-0 to advance in the group stage matches.
This win marks the 10th win in a row for Italy which overcomes the previous 9-game winning streak that they recorded back in the season of 1938-39 under the lead of Vittorio Pozzo.
Lorenzo Insigne and Francesco Acerbi both scored goals for the team during the first half while the 3rd goal came during the 2nd half following the combined efforts of Italian players’ Andrea Belotti and Zenica.
Italy had already managed to qualify for the European Championship 2020 by being the winner of the Group J but they played to win for extending their 9-game winning streak in the last 9 matches. Last year, Italy had also defeated the United States in its friendly game.
As for Bosnia, it was ousted out of the Euro Championship group stages following the win of Finland during the early hours of Friday. Still, Bosnia has a chance to qualify for next year’s European Championship by winning in the playoffs.
As for Finland, they were able to win the European Championship qualifying game on Friday against Liechtenstein by 3-0 which gives them the 2nd place behind Italian team in the Group J. Finland still has one more game to play but after playing for 80 years, they have finally made it big into a major soccer event.
Finland will be joined by its neighboring country Sweden in the European Championship 2020 as well.
On Friday, Sweden was able to win itself a spot in the Euro Championship 2020 with its 2-0 over Romania. With this, Sweden will advance in the Group F of the European Championship qualifier round along with Spain.
For Sweden, this will be the 6th appearance in a row at the Euro Championship. They were quarterfinalists in the last year’s European Championship.
