Jabari Bird of the Boston Celtics has been charged with allegations for kidnapping, strangulation, suffocation and assault with battery of a female family member. He has also been charged for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
The charges against Bird were filed by a woman living in Bird’s apartment building on Thursday of last week.
Although Bird was arrested by police on Sunday morning last week, he did not make appearance to his court hearing until after he was released from Hospital.
The reports states that, Bird allegedly kidnapped and held the woman in his apartment where she not only strangled by also kicked her. The woman stated to police that Bird strangled her for about 12 times and at one time she also lost consciousness.
Bird eventually went to sleep and woman just left her apartment to pert this incident to police. The report states that woman also went to hospital for treatment of her injuries.
The indent report states that Bird texted woman that if she did not come back he would kill himself. The name of the alleged domestic abuse victim has not been released to media.
Celtics released a statement saying that, “at the moment our thoughts are with the victim of the incident. While we are perplexed of these allegations against Jabari Bird, Celtics organization deplores any form of domestic violence abuse. These matters are however dealt by League Office for the team itself. As for us; Celtics, we are going to assist the police and local authorities for giving any assist in this ongoing investigation. Team refrains from giving any further comments at this time”.
Bail for Bird was set for 100,000 dollars and 50,000 dollars of it must be paid in cash.
