After James Harden helped the Houston Rockets by matching his career-high of 61 points against the Spurs, everyone was asking the same question from Coach Mike D’Antoni; who has the ability to stop the NBA’s top scorer?”
D’Antoni said playfully, “Me, I can make him sit on the bench. That’s about it.”
Harden in the first quarter against Spurs on Friday night scored 27 points and then went on for a late rally in the 4th to help Houston Rockets gain a victory over the San Antonio Spurs by 111-105.
Harden said, “Be aggressive. We were down short and so we had to make the shots and get some stops.”
Harden with this game has now topped his 50-point mark 8th time this season alone which is comparable in the top with other 10 performances of the league this season. He also matched his career best of 61 points for the team in their game against New York Knicks at the Madison Square Garden.
Harden made the 30-point mark in the 2nd quarter while making the 40-point mark in the third quarter’s final minutes.
Harden said, ‘I was aware as to how important this game was to us. This was an opportunity to take care of the home so I came out with aggressiveness.”
Entering the fourth quarter, Spurs had already blown away Rockets 15-point lead at 81 points. Still, the Houston Rockets under Harden’s lead managed to win the game which is their 13th out of their last 15 games.
As for San Antonio Spurs, they were led by Bryn Forbes who scored 20 points whereas Derrick White added in his 18 points with DeMar DeRozan scoring 16 points.
Up next, San Antonio Spurs will be playing against the Boston Celtics on Sunday night whereas Houston Rockets will be playing a game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night.
