Jimmy Garoppolo; San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback undergoes ACL surgery

Jimmy Garoppolo; San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback has undergone the surgical procedure for his torn ACL injury suffered on his left knee. The news has been confirmed by Kyle Shanahan; coach of the team.

27 years old Garoppolo had to be carted off the field after he sustained the injury in the match against Kansas City Chiefs on September 23rd held at Arrowhead Stadium.

Garoppolo suffered the buckle on his left knee when he took a severe hit from the cornerback Steve Nelson of the Kansas City Chiefs running down the standing line.

Illinois native is now going to have to miss the rest of the season and is going to join the teammate Kerick McKinnon; the top running back for their team on the injured reserve. McKinnon also suffered from the same injury before the start of the season.

MRI Scan confirmed the damage to the knee. The team was initially worried as there were chances of his collateral ligament to be injured as well.

At the moment no more information is given regarding Garoppolo’s injury and the coach Shanahan only said that no timeline can be given regarding the return of Garoppolo into the team. Typically, an ACL injury takes anywhere in-between 7 to 9 months for full recovery.

Garoppolo’s place had to been taken by the backup quarterback C.J. Beathard during the five minutes of their game. Beathard already made his opening debut into the team when they defeated LA Chargers this weekend.

With this, Garoppolo has missed two seasons due to injury. Back in 2016, he suffered from a shoulder sprain that caused him to miss two games.

In his 26 games career, Garoppolo has thrown 2968 yards, made 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He was previously the member of the NFL team New England Patriots before joining San Francisco 49ers.
