Joe Root says that, “that James Anderson and Alistair Cook ending the victory for England against India with 4-1 is like a fairy tale like stuff.”
Anderson overtook the Australian legend Glenn McGrath when he took last wicket in the fifth test match. With this wicket he has become the Most Successful Bowler in The Test Cricket”.
Following the achievement of Anderson, Cook signed off his retirement from England with a century on his last Test innings; the match played at the OVAL.
The English captain said that, it would have been a good luck to get the ball away from Anderson. Especially after that new ball came out, He bit it between his teeth. He was not looking tired I the least bit instead was looking very determinant. When you see him in mood you must let him go as long as possible.”
Root further added to his praise for Anderson, “What Jimmy as achieved today and what is in reality able to achieve still, is simply astounding.
In his praise he said, “For jimmy to be in the same league as McGrath and now chasing after the big spinners, as far as I think, it is pretty exciting that he is bowling at his best. I am hoping that he is going to have number of series in future where he will lead attacks and terrify the batters.”
On Anderson and Cook’s twin achievement in this test series, Root said, “To me it feels like it was written in the stars. Of this to turn out like this is may be a fairy tale like stuff. Don’t you think so? For Jimmy to finishing the game in such a style and for Cook to go out in such splendid way it was fitting for these guys who happen to be really close mates.”
