Joel Embiid was held by Toronto Raptors scoreless first time in his NBA career as Sixers’ lost by 101-96

Joel Embiid made a rerun to Toronto and played a game that he will never forget for the rest of his life.

Pascal Siakam of the Raptor scored 25 points while Fred van Vleet pitched in his 24 scores to allow Toronto Raptors to win over the Philadelphia 76ers by 101-96 on Monday night game.  This was also the game for Joel Embiid in which he was held scoreless for the very first time in his NBA career.

Embiid said of this, “I cannot perform this way. I could have had never imagined that I would be taking to the press about a game with zero points and this is an NBA game, but this is what it is. Some nights you are able to make the shots but some nights you don’t. Some night you are really hot but some nights you are not.”

His was the first game between the two teams before the buzzer-beater from Kawhi Leonard helped the Toronto Raptors to win the 2nd round of the NBA playoffs back in May. That was also the time when Toronto Raptors were able to win the NBA title and Kawhi Leonard then left for the Los Angeles Clippers.

Embiid who was very tearful during that postseason defeat did not do anything to erase those bad memories.  His teammates, on the other hand, seemed really worried about their center player being scoreless.

Ben Simmons, guard for the Sixers said, “Everyone has down games as no one is Superman. It has happened to Joe but he is going to be really good in the future.”

Embiid was 0 for 11 as he missed all 4 of his 3-pointer shots and also 0 for 3 from the free-throw range.  He did finish the game with the game-high of 13 rebounds.

Up next for the Toronto Raptors is the game against the New York Knicks on Wednesday night whereas 76ers will take on Sacramento Kings at a home game on Wednesday night.
