Jokic leads as Nuggets beat Spurs by 90-86 in Game 7 to win the series

Time was trickling down fast but Spurs were not able to hear the shouts of their coach to foul some over.

All the credit to it goes to the Denver crowd.

Well, Nuggets also made quite a noise on Saturday night.

Nikola Jokic led the Denver Nuggets with another triple-double of the playoff with Jamal Murray hitting a clutch floater with 36 seconds to the clock to let the Nuggets win over San Antonio Spurs by 90-86 on Saturday night in game 7. With this win, the first round series of the playoffs concludes with Denver Nuggets making it to the second round of the playoffs for the first time in a decade.

Michael Malone, the Nuggets coach said, “I loved the grit, resiliency and the toughness with which we played. Even when the made a late run, we never lost our composure.”

The Nuggets built a 17 points lead during the 3rd quarter but that lead got withered away by the Spurs down to mere 2 points with 52 seconds to the game.

Jokic led the Nuggets with his 21 points, 15 rebounds as well as 10 assists. DeMar Rozan had the chance to cut the lead of the Nuggets but he was stopped in his track by Torrey Craig. With the time getting passed on, the Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was yelling out and out for his team to make a foul just to prolong the game.

However, his team could not hear him under the roar of the Denver crowd. The time ran out and Nuggets went on to celebrate their first-round series win of the postseason.

Craig said, “after the game, you are thinking, why did they not commit a foul?’

LaMarcus Aldridge, talking about not hearing Popovich’s yells for a foul, he said, “I missed it, that’s it.”

With this series win, Nuggets now move to the second round series of the playoffs where they will face the third-seeded Portland Trail Blazers on Monday.
