Jon Jones might be making a much sooner appearance then some might think.
On Wednesday night, US Anti-Doping Agency announced that Jon Jones; former light heavyweight champion who was sentenced for 15 months suspension following his second anti doping offense is now eligible to make a return to the UFC 230 that is going to held in early November.
31 years old Jon Jones was excepting to serve 4 years term when he his doping test came out positive for use of Turinabol during his rematch against current champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 214.
Jones’ license was revoked by California State Athletic Commission following these test results. They also issued him a huge fine and also ordered UFC to strip away the title he won by knocking out Cormier. The commission however was not the one who suspended him. The matter was left for UFC Anti Doping agency.
USADA also one suspended Jones for a year after he was tested positive for use of many drug enhancers in his fight against Cormier at UFC 200 in 2016.
Next time USADA was intending to suspend him for 4 years but ultimately reduced the sentence to mere 15 months suspension based on “Delivery of substantial assistance from Jones”.
Jones suspension was retroactive since July 28, 2017 when his test came out positive thus making him to participate on October 28th 2018.
His suspension is going to end just five days before UFC 230 that is starting up on November 3rd in New York at Madison Square Garden. Reportedly Jones is going to be main headliner for this show.
