Jordan Spieth says that he insistent of accepting the punishment from the PGA Tour only on one condition. If they deiced that he has breached regulations by filling to play I required numbers of tournaments this season.
Spieth was not able to make it for the season ending Tour Championship that is to be held next week. He tied at the 55th BMW Championship as well as slipped from his 27th ranking to 31st at the FedEx CUP.
Spieth is going to miss this opportunity to compete in the upcoming championship for the first time since 2013 when he earned his first card.
This leaves him one short of minimum number of events that he requires to compete in the course of the season. This rule is under their regulation from PGA Tour that imposed it two years ago.
Ryder Cup held at the end of this month would have been Spieth’s 25th official start but now in the Paris Showdown will be his 24th. This will leave him with facing not only a fine but also suspension.
Spieth on all this told media reporters that,
“I assume it will be a fine or I am going to add some tournaments in fall. I am not sure if that counts. I talked with Tour a little while back but I don’t really think of it as much.”
He further added, “It the situation becomes what it seem it is, then I will gladly pay the fine regardless whatever it is. I will also try to add on new event every year but it will be tough to do”.
He ended the interview with words, “I was in control of my destiny but this week I was not in control of it. I was riding with the momentum but all I all my game got a little off. The second round, you cannot shoot over par here and that’s what there is for me”.
