Antony Joshua has been feeling like he is being ‘hunted’. To toughen his resolve for this feeling he is doing it so with grueling rounds of sparring.
According to Joshua himself all this hard training and sparring that he is doing in gym is to overwhelm his challenger; Alexander Povetkin who he is going to face on 22nd September.
Joshua told the media officials that, “people are not coming to give me rounds anymore. They don’t say: what do you want me to do? Instead they are coming to take my head off because I am being hunted. I have become the hunted and I am well aware of this situation. This is the reality that I have accepted and I live in now.”
Martin Bakole; a Scotland based prospect and Agit Kabayel; the one who defeated Dereck Chisora are the notable partner of Joshua these days in his last camp.
Joshua talking about his sparring matches said to media, “tough sparing. We do a lot of rounds together. I called for it asking for my round and I am never going to do it again. I have been sparring wit Turks, Germans, Africans and English. I am fighting to learn from different countries, physicality and mentalities. I am the world champion right now but I am still learning from these guys as they are the most talented fighters. I absorb it all in what they tell me.”
Talking about his fight with Povetkin, he said, Remember Povetkin is not getting out in four or five rounds. He is going to stay with me in there and I will do everything that I have earned. Lately I have been sparring with heavy leather and after four or five rounds it becomes tough and purely physical. My sparring partners have opportunity to get out but Povetkin would have to stay in/ so it s going to be interesting watching him survive.”
