The road game for the Kansas City Chiefs against the New England Patriots held on Sunday night was won by Chiefs for a 23-16 victory in Boxborough. With this win, the Kansas City Chiefs have won their 4th AFC West title in a row along with ending the 21-game home winning streak of Patriots.
This is the 2nd defeat in a row for the Patriots who are now 10-3 on the season and are behind the Baltimore Ravens, who stand 11-2 on the season and are also the tiebreaking team for the AFC top seed spot.
As for the Kansas City Chiefs, they are now 9-3 on the season as the scored 23 points consecutively after Pats took the lead on 1st half with a TD on their opening drive. Tom Brady found Julian Edelman for 37-yard TD pass but then they were slumped to nothing made on the night until the late 4th quarter.
Kansas City Chiefs blocked a punt and then lost a fumble as Patriots made a rally being confident in their defense. Their punt blocked by Nate Ebner allowed for Patriots to end their streak of 6 scoreless possessions to a make the score 23-13 in the 4th quarter.
Pats further gained the lead when Nick Folk made a field goal and the scoreboard read 23-16 and then Pats QB drove for 68 yards into the Chiefs’ 5-yard line on their final possession.
However, with only 1 minute to the game, Bashaud Breeland, the cornerback for Patriots broke the pass which was made to Edelman on the 4th down which resulted in the game ending with no score made by Patriots.
Patriots are already making lots of complaining that a number of officiating calls were not made in their favor.
Patrick Mahomes, the QB of Kansas City Chiefs threw 40 passes and completed 26 of them for a total of 283 passing yards along with 1 interception and 1 TD.
Up next for the New England Patriots is the game against the Cincinnati Bengals, which will be their last regular-season game. As for the Kansas City Chiefs, they will host a game against the Denver Broncos.
