India’s wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson silenced his critics by scoring a century in the third IND vs SA ODI match. Samson’s knock of 108 runs off 114 balls in Paarl was instrumental in India’s 78-run win against South Africa.

Following his impressive performance, Samson has been appointed as the captain of the Kerala squad for the upcoming season of the Ranji Trophy. Rohan Kunnummal will serve as the vice-captain, and the return of Vishnu Vinod adds to the squad’s strength.

Sanju Samson has played 58 first-class matches, scoring 3446 runs at an average of 38.71, with 10 centuries and 15 half-centuries. Shreyas Gopal and Jalaj Saxena are the other experienced players in the Kerala side.

Kerala will kick off their Ranji Trophy campaign against Uttar Pradesh on January 5. The Sanju Samson-led team will also face Mumbai, Bengal, Andhra, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, and Bihar in Elite Group B.

Sanju Samson played a crucial role in India’s victory during the third ODI match against South Africa, forming a match-winning partnership with Tilak Varma and leading India to a challenging first-innings score of 296/8. South Africa were then dismissed for 218 runs, resulting in a 78-run win for India and their second ODI series win against South Africa on South African soil in the last five years.

Samson has faced criticism for his inconsistent performances in the Indian cricket team, having missed out on opportunities in the past. Despite moments of doubt, Samson’s supporters have remained steadfast as he strives to solidify his place in the Indian team after his first international century.
