Indian keeper-batter KL Rahul discussed how he copes with social media negativity. The Karnataka batter acknowledged that handling trolls is not easy and emphasized that he replies to all the hatred with his performance on the field.

A few months ago, KL Rahul was one of the most negatively perceived cricketers in India. The keeper-batter received a lot of criticism for his poor batting performance, with much of the blame for Team India’s losses in major games directed at him.

Not only did fans express their displeasure, but many former cricketers also criticized him. He was eventually dropped from the Indian team, leading to widespread speculation about his place in the team. The batter also struggled with multiple low scores and had tough outings in most games.

KL Rahul then suffered an injury, but his comeback was exceptional. The keeper-batter excelled in white-ball cricket and played a significant role for India in the Asia Cup 2023 and the ICC World Cup 2023.

In both tournaments, KL Rahul was a key player in the batting department. He delivered some outstanding innings in crucial games, ensuring his team’s victory in important matches.

Furthermore, KL Rahul made an impressive return to Test cricket. In the ongoing Test against South Africa, he played one of his best innings in the longest format of the game. Even when India was struggling at 107/5, KL Rahul rose to the occasion and scored a remarkable century. His score of 101 runs helped his team reach a total of 245 runs, a feat that seemed unlikely at one point. The keeper-batter’s contribution at a crucial stage was exceptional.

During the press conference after Day 2 of the ongoing Test, KL Rahul was asked about dealing with social media negativity. He candidly replied, “It is not easy.”

When asked if he ever feels like responding to the criticism on social media, he said, “I let my bat do all the talking.”

IND vs SA: I am quite humbled to hear this – KL Rahul reacts to praise by Sunil Gavaskar

After KL Rahul’s outstanding century, Sunil Gavaskar praised the Indian keeper-batter, stating that his innings was among the top 10 in India’s Test history.

Responding to this, KL Rahul expressed his gratitude for Sunil Gavaskar’s praise. He explained that he knew he had to bat with the lower-order batsmen on a difficult pitch. He said, “I am quite humbled to hear this. Today and yesterday I knew I had to bat with the lower batsmen. It was difficult to bat here. There was cover on the pitch for a long time. There was damp in it. It was enough for the bowlers. I wasn’t doing this for the first time.”

At stumps on Day 2, South Africa were 256/5 and had taken an 11-run lead. India will be hoping to take the remaining wickets as soon as possible.
