Kyle Kuzma, on Thursday night, manage to score his career high 41 points against his dreamed childhood team.
His offensive play propelled the Lakers to win over the Detroit Pistons by 113-100 on Wednesday night. With this win, Lakers have won 3 of their last 5 games without LeBron James.
Lakers coach Luke Walton said, “Our team has shown a lot of growth since LeBron’s injury.”
Kuzma who had 22 points by the third quarter managed to hit four 3-pointers to get the crowd stood up from their seats. He has joined the likes of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, LeBron James, and James Harden who have scored 40 points in three quarters this season.
Kuzma talking about his performance against his favorite childhood team said, “Pretty cool. That is the team I grew up watching. My fondest memory of them is beating the Lakers.”
Kuzma was only 9 years old kid living in Flint, Michigan when the Pistons’ first won the NBA Championship in 2004.
He sat out for the fourth quarter and put a wrap over his lower back which has been bothering him.
After Kuzma left off, Michael Beasley picked off as he scored 15 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter on his 30th birthday. His scoring spree had LeBron and other Lakers on their feet on the bench.
As for Detroit Pistons, they were led by Blake Griffin who scored 16 points averaging in his career high of 25.3 points per game. He did not manage to have any rebound this game due to Kyle Kuzma’s defense.
Other players from Pistons side like Andre Drummond scored 17 rebounds while Reggie Jackson scored his 15 points for the team. Pistons with this loss have now lost three games in a row and six of their last seven games.
Up next, Pistons will play against the LA Lakers on Saturday night as for LA Lakers they will play against the Utah Jazz on Friday.
