Lawrence Okolie beats Mariano Gudino as he stays on track for his shot for the Euro title

In the Saturday night fight of Lawrence Okolie VS Mariano Gudino, Okolie defeated Gudino at the O2 to stay on track for his shot at winning the European Cruiserweight title belt against Yves Ngabu.

Gudino was dropped to canvas 4 times by Okolie before the referee called the fight off in Okolie’s favor during the 7th round. With this win, Okolie has successfully denuded his WBA Continental Cruiserweight belt for the 3rd time in his 13th win in a row.

Okolie said in his post-fight interview, “It feels food to get 7 rounds in. I tried to work on my jab and I slowed him down.”

Okolie, the champion of Britain and Commonwealth was able to keep the dominance in a fight right from the opening round. He performed well behind his long jab while Gudino had to circle around the ring in order to be away from harm’s way.

The 3rd round saw Okolie catching up to his Argentinean opponent as he landed on him right punch on the side of his head that caused Gudino to fell on canvas for the 1st time.

Gudino, who was fighting for the second time in his career outside of his hometown, started to get tired in the 5th and fell to canvas 2 times even without getting hit.

Gudino’s head was targeted by Okolie’s strong right in the 6th and then the 7th round saw him falling 3 times before the referee of the fight Robert Williams had seen enough and called the fight off with still one second remaining to the round.
