Lazio wins over Inter Milan by 2-1 in Serie A for boosting their hope for 1st title in last 20 years

Lazio has high hopes of winning their first title of Serie A in the last 20 years. Their hopes are boosted especially after their Sunday night Serie A win against Inter Milan by 2-1.

Ashley Young of Lazio scored the first goal for the team since his joining 0of the club after leaving Manchester United back last month. However, the score was then leveled shortly against following a goal from Ciro Immobile during the 2nd half on a penalty shot.




As for the game-winner of Inter Milan, it was scored by Sergej Milinković-Savić during the game’s 69th minute.

Sergej Milinković-Savić said, “This win is not only because of me as we are a family and everybody can see that on the pitch. I hope to remain on this path. We talked in the dressing room where we said that this is our match. This title is not a must for us but we are going to fight hard for it. We are there and we are not going to give up on anything.”

With this win, Lazio is now on the 2nd place in the Serie A standings with only 1 point behind league leader Juventus. Juventus also won their Serie A match against Brescia by 2-0 earlier on the day. As for Inter Milan, they are now at 3rd place in the league and are currently 3 points behind the 8 times defending champions of the Serie A; Juventus.

Lazio won its last 2 titles of Serie A back in 2000 but had remained as an unbeaten football club for record 18 rounds as they came into this match. Their last defeat against Inter Milan was back in September of 2019.

In other matches of the league, Sampdoria won over Fiorentina by 5-1 at a home game while Parma defeated Sassuolo by 1-0 and Hellas Verona drawing 0-0 against Udinese. As for Napoli VS Cagliari match, it ended with a 1-0 win for Napoli.
