Leonard last moment winner leads Raptors to beat Trail Blazers by 119-117

One day after Toronto Raptors had practice their game winnings shots, Kawhi Leonard displayed it against the team’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

With mere 3 seconds to the game, Leonard scored a go-ahead basket to lead the Raptors win over the Trail Blazers by 119-117 on Friday night.

Raptors coach, Nick Nurse said to media, “We just practiced that exact shot in the exact scenario yesterday. It was a great shot. Kyle sets a screen and we try to get smaller guys while Leonard can just vault pass them to shoot the basket.”

Kawhi Leonard led the Raptors with his 38 points while Kyle Lowry scored 19 points with 10 assists for the Raptors who have now won 9 of their last 10 games. Currently Raptors are the NBA Best with 11-4 games decided by 3 points or fewer.

Lowry said, “Just saying that staying composed and understanding the situation is always not that good.”

Marc Gasol scored 19 points while Pascal Siakam added in his 16 points for the Toronto Raptors who have now won four straight home games against the Trail blazers while inning 7 of their 8 overall games this season.

As for Portland Trail Blazers, they were led by C.J. McCollum who scored 35 points along with matching his career bets of seven 3 pointers in this game. However, all of his efforts were not enough to extend the Trail Blazers’ second best five-game winning streak.

Lillard scored 24 points while Jake Layman scored 13 points for the Trial Blazers as they have suffered their first loss right after winning 4 games in a row on their 7-game road trip.

Lillard made a tie of the game for the third time with 13 seconds to the game but Leonard responded with a baseline jumper to end the game for Raptors win.

Up next, Trail Blazers will play against the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday while Toronto Raptors will play against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday.
