Lillard scores 50 as Blazers beat Thunder to clinch the series in 5 games

After scoring his last 3-pointer to send the Trail Blazers ahead in the playoffs, Damien Lillard waved off to the Thunder’s bench.

He said, “That was the last word and that was having the last word.”

Lillard led the Trail Blazers with the playoff high for his franchise with 50 points to let his team win over the OKC Thunder by 118-115 on Tuesday night.

With this win, Trail blazers have won the first round playoff series and now advance to the second round of the playoff series.

Lillard, who scored 10 3-pointers n the night, has the 2nd most 3-pointer s in the NBA playoff game.

Lillard said, “All of those things that we did to have ourselves a chance to win here are huge. As for my part in all this, it was probably my most amazing performance yet.”

With this, the Portland Trail Blazers now advance to the semi finals of the Western Conference playoffs where they are going to face off the winner of the best of 7 series between Denver Nuggets and San Antonio Spurs. Denver is currently ahead with a 3-2 league over the Spurs.

For the OKC Thunder, this was their 12 straight losses at the playoffs and their 3rd elimination in the first round series for the last 3 seasons in a row.

Russell Westbrook leads the Thunder with his 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 14 assists. With this, he scored his 10 the career triple-double and his second for the playoffs. S for Paul George, he scored 36 points for the team.

George said, “Very, very disappointing. This is just as simple as that. We let this one slip away and it is what it is.”

The last time, Blazers were in the Semifinals of the Western Conference was back in 2006 before they defeated LA Clippers in opening round and then lost to Warriors in 5 games.
