Manchester United’s hopes for securing themselves a spot at the next season for the Champions League were damaged a lot with their 2-1 loss against the Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League’s match on Tuesday night.
United were at a lead with Scott McTominay’s goal in the 13th minute while Wolves responded back with a goal of their own by Chris Smalling. As for the 2nd goal of the Wolves, it came after Ashley Young, the captain of United was sent off for his two bookings in 5 minute time.
If United had won this game, they would have been lifted to third place but they are still at 5th right behind the 4th place Tottenham. As for the 3rd place, it is in hands of Arsenal.
These 3 teams with the 6th place Chelsea are all looking for the two qualification spots of the Champions League. They are all behind the Liverpool and Manchester City.
With this loss, Untied has now lost 3 of their last 4 games in what is their worst season.
2 of these losses were against Molineux while the last is after Wolves beat the United by 2-1 in FA Cup.
Up net, they will be heading to London on Sunday for the semifinal match of FA Cup against the Watford which will be played at the Wembley Stadium.
United’s captain Young had his first booking for fouling Jota in the 52nd minute of the game and another was then again booked against the same player by Young and he was soon seen walking off the field. This was Mike Deam’s 2nd yellow card as well as his 100th red card for the Premier League.
