The fans of Memphis Grizzlies celebrated the return of their former star point guard named Mike Conley in Memphis with open arms but it was the rookie replacement of Memphis Grizzlies who stole the night’s limelight.
Ja Morant, who is the no. 2 form the last year’s draft was able to score 25 points which also includes his go-ahead shot with only 1 minute to the game, while Dillon Brooks of Memphis Grizzlies posted 20 points as the team won over Utah Jazz by 107-106. This spoiled the return of Mike Conley back to Memphis.
Morant, in addition to his many impressive plays, was able to post 8 assists. While he is still learning control for his speed and flashy moves, it seems like Memphis Grizzlies have already found themselves a worth replacement for Mike Conley.
Jaren Jackson of Memphis Grizzlies said of Morant, “He is really incredible. His change in speed and direction is simply different. It is something you do not see in the league. This is once-in-a-lifetime like talent.”
With the inside basket from Morant, Memphis Grizzlies got the lead of 107-105. Rudy Gobert of Utah jazz made 2 free throws with 53 seconds to the clock but he still missed.
Utah again had a chance to equalize the game with the ball moving towards Donovan Mitchell but then Mitchell made a turn and ball was in hand of Solomon Hill and the buzzer was sounded which gave Memphis Grizzlies tier 3rd consecutive win.
Mitchell said, “I got fouled there I not much to talk about it. They made good defense but they hit m whole arm. This is the 3rd time this has happened to me but other team did not have a foul call. At this point, this is simply ridiculous.”
Up next for Utah jazz is the Monday night game which they will host against the Minnesota Timberwolves. As for the Memphis Grizzlies, they will be hosting a game on Sunday against the Denver Nuggets.
