Roger Federer, in an epic match as he was one set down, made a remarkable comeback to defeat Radu Albot to make it to the third round of the Miami Open. However, Dan Evans and Alexander Zverev were not so lucky as they got an out from the tournament.
The Swiss tennis player who has won the tournament 3 times in the past, played for 2 hours before he managed to gain a victory over world rank no. 45 Albot by 4-6, 7-5 and 6-3. Next, Federer will be playing against Filip Krajinovic.
Federer said, “I expected a player with a great attitude coming into this match and Albot showed it. I respect a lot to those players who find a way out of the size to win a game. He is really a great player and I am very impressed.”
Another disappointing walk out of the tournament was of world rank no. 23 Alexander Zverev who was eaten in 3 sets by the 36 years old David Ferrer.
Ferrer is set to retire from the sport after playing Madrid Open in May.
In other matches, world rank no. 7 Kevin Anderson has also managed to move up in the tournament after defeating Spanish player, Jaume Munar by 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3.
Stefanos Tsitsipas, the 8th seed defeated Mackenzie McDonald by 7-6 and 6-1 while Karen Khacahnov, the 10th seeded player got defeated by 6-2 and 6-3 at hands of Jordan Thompson.
as for his fellow Russian compatriot, Daniil Medvedev he managed to defeat the 13thg seed player Adrian Mannarino by 6-2 6-1.
