A big hit in NHL game of Tuesday night between the two players of Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes left the night riddled with injuries.
Marcus Johansson, the forward of the Bruins got a massive hit from Michel Ferland of Hurricanes in the early first period in a game played at Boston. Johansson had to leave the game first for dressing to the locker room and later to the hospital with an injury of the upper body.
Bruce Cassidy, Bruins coach said, “it looks encouraging. However, I don’t want to speak out of turn until the tests are done. Only them, we will have a good answer.”
Although the hit was a clean one it gave Johansson a whiplash effect as he laid down on the ice for 1 minute or more. He was already suffering from concussion problems and had trouble standing up after the hit. He was also holding on to his arm oddly.
Freeland went airborne but managed to stay in the game.
However, on the next shift, Freeland and the Bruins forward David Backes both dropped their gloves to face of each other to fight it off fair and square.
The fight was a quick one with only a few punches and Ferland soon getting on top of Backes.
However, Freeland had to leave the game as if he had hurt his holder. He left the game and did not come back due to an upper-body injury.
In the end, Bruins managed to win the game by 4-3 in the overtime to increase their winning streak by 17 games.
