After Malik Monk led the Charlotte Hornets win by 101-92 against the New York Knicks on Monday night; Nic Batum walked over to Monk and told reserve guard “Thank You”.
Batum said, “The starters have played a lot of minutes, especially on the road. We feel like we had heavy legs in this game.”
Monk and other Hornets reserve players bailed starters out.
Kemba Walker led the Charlotte Hornets with his 15 points as players from the Hornets’ bench like Tony Parker scored 15 points and Monk scored 14 points. Monk was the one who clutched the four 3-pointer shot of the Knicks to let the Hornets win. This was the tenth straight loss for the New York Knicks on Monday night.
Hornets and Knicks were tied in the fourth quarter, but Monk came to the rescue as he scored 12 points pivotal for Hornets’ win. Walker assisted Monk on thee of his 3-pointers.
As for the struggling Knicks, they were led by Kevin Knox who scored 19 points while Tim Hardaway JR. scored 17 points. Knicks have lately won only one game since they defeated Hornets back on December 14th, 2018.
Knicks coach David Fizdale said, right now, our guys need to learn as to how to play against switching and not holding the basketball. This problem is our Achilles Heel right now as we struggle to learn, how to play against the switching defense.”
Up next, New York Knicks will play against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night while Charlotte Hornets will play against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.
