Monte-Carlo Masters; Novak Djokovic exits after being beaten by Daniil Medvedev

Novak Djokovic, the world rank no. 1 was defeated in his quarterfinals match against Daniil Medvedev.

Novak, the two-time title winner lost the match by 6-3, 4-6 and 6-2 against Medvedev. As for the 10th seeded Russian, this was his first win against Djokovic in their last 4 meetings.

Djokovic who has won the Masters 1000 event back in 2015, struggled against his Tuesday’s match against Philipp Kohlschreiber and at this match was proven second best against Medvedev.

Medvedev will now face another Serbian player Dusan Lajovic for his first semi-finals of the tournament.

Lajovic who is yet to drop a single set in the tournament, managed to make it to his first career semi-finals after he defeated Lorenzo Sonego, the Italian qualifier.

Lajovic is bidding to win his first career tournament title and lead his win against the qualifier Sonego who was the first qualifier since 2005 to make it into the last four of a Masters 1000 event. The last one being Richard Gasquet.

As for the defending champion Rafael Nadal, his match against the unseeded Guido Pella proved to be a thrilling and a tough match but he still managed to make it into the last 4 of the event.

He is now looking for a match to be played against the winner of the match between Borna Coric and Fabio Fognini.
