More than 100 flights into Atlanta cancelled ahead of Super Bowl

On the Tuesday morning, more than 100 flights have been canceled at Atlanta’s airport along with city leaders issuing a statement that the fierce weather could also affect the roads badly as thousands of fans are pouring into the town for Super Bowl LIII.

The winter storm has captivated the whole city after five years. The cars, trucks and school buses have marooned on the Atlanta freeways making what is being called as “Snow Jam”.

At 3 am on Tuesday, winter weather advisory went into effect for Atlanta, a city that is renowned for going into halt even in light snowfalls.

The Atlanta based airline; Delta Air Lines have announced on Monday earlier that they will proactively be canceling 170 flights at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which is its main hub.

Georgia governor Brian Kemp on Monday said in a news conference, “temperatures are going to plummet even lower. It is very similar to the situation we had four years ago in 2014 when the roadways did not have time to dry off as the moisture and precipitation on them refroze. That is when you have Black Ice which causes wrecks, gridlocks, injuries, and public safety issues.”
