Johanna Konta faced a major setback on her preparation for the upcoming Wimbledon after she was defeated by Tunisian player Ons Jabeur during their 3rd round match of the Nature Valley International at Eastbourne by 6-3 and 6-2.
With this British, no. 1 will be entering the upcoming Wimbledon by playing 5 matches on grass courts. She was earlier defeated during the 2nd round match of Birmingham last week.
Konta was leading the first set but then suffered a break in it to eventually be defeated to miss out her chance for quarterfinals against Alize Cornet on her home court tournament.
Konta made a splendid effort against the world rank no. 62 Jabeur but her opponent broke her 3-2 lead early on to seize the momentum of the game and ultimately head to claim the victory.
British no. 1 Konta was playing in the grass court tournaments after having a splendid clay court season where she reached the finals of two and the semifinals of Roland Garros.
Konta, who is the 19th seeded player in the Wimbledon, is going into this grass-court Grand Slam event with less preparation as compared to what she had during her previous years.
The draw for the 2019 championships is due to held at The All England Club on Friday.
