Novak Djokovic is the top seed for the men’s singles at US Open

The US Open, the last Grand Slam event of the year which will start on Monday next week, has announced top seeds of the tournament as Naomi Osaka and Novak Djokovic.

Djokovic is bidding to win the 2nd Grand Slam title of the year following his earlier success of the Wimbledon title. He is also the defending champion of US Open this year after he won the title back at the Flushing Meadows a year ago after defeating Juan Martin del Potro.

The world rank no. 1 will be followed by the other subsequent top 4 ranking players; Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Dominic Thiem and their seeding have lasso been based on their world rankings.

For the Russian player Daniil Medvedev, who won the Cincinnati Masters, is seeded as 5th while British no. 1 Kyle Edmund is ranked two spots below Nick Kyrgios for the 30th seed.

Naomi Osaka is seeded 1st in the women’s draw while 2nd seeded player of the tournament is Ashleigh Barty followed by players Karolina Pliskova, Simona Halep and Elina Svitolina.

As for Madison Keys, who won this year’s Cincinnati Masters, is seeded 10th in the tournament.
