Rafael Nadal, the world rank no. 2 once again showed his efforts for winning the Wimbledon title once more as he easily defeated Joao Sousa in the 4th round match to move into the tournament’s quarterfinals.
The Spaniard, since 2010 has not won the title of the All England Club but is now looking like a very strong contender for winning the title especially after he defeated his recent Portuguese opponent by 6-2, 6-2 and 6-2 on the Center Court.
Nadal, who has moved into his 2nd quarterfinals of the tournament since 2011 is now going to play it out against America’s Sam Querrey.
Sam Querrey himself defeated his countryman Tennys Sandgren by 6-4, 6-7, 7-6, and 7-6. Querrey had been the semi-finalist of the 2017’s Wimbledon.
In other high profile 4th round matches of the Wimbledon, the world top ranking player Novak Djokovic also cruised into the last 8 after defeating Ugo Humbert by 6-3, 6-2 and 6-3. The defending champion of the tournament is looking to secure his 5th title win of the Wimbledon.
Up next, Djokovic will now play against the 21st seeded David Goffin for the 11th Wimbledon quarterfinal of his career.
Earlier Goffin defeated Fernando Verdasco by 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 and 6-4 to move into the quarterfinals for a match against Novak.
Another high profile 4th round match of the day was of Roger Federer VS the 17th seeded Matteo Berrettini that Federer won.
Federer was able to win his 99th Wimbledon match by 6-1, 6-2 and 6-2 to move into the 17trh Wimbledon quarterfinal of his career.
Up next, Federer will be facing the 8th seeded Japanese star Kei Nishikori who won over Mikhail Kukushkin 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, and 6-4.
As for Roberto Bautista Agut, he also cruised into his season’s 2nd Grand Slam quarterfinals round with a 6-3 7-5 6-2 win over the 23rd seeded Benoit Paire.
He will next face the Argentine’s Guido Pella who won over Milos Raonic by 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, and8-6 in a comeback victory.
