OT goal from T.J. Oshie ruled out on offside call as Arizona Coyotes beat Washington Capitals by 4-3

Even if T.J. Oshie of Washington Capitals got off the bench and skated to score a goal and knew his goal was going to be ruled off in the overtime, Antti Raanta, the goaltender of the Arizona Coyotes waited until they got the official word.

A couple of players from Arizona Coyotes sides were skating back to the clubhouse of the team when some of them turned around and screamed that this goal might be turned down due to being offside one. They came back as the Capitals also waited on ice and the video was reviewed on the last goal that it had not been ruled out, would have continued the winning streak of the Capitals.

It was actually Arizona Coyotes who got to celebrate the win as they picked themselves out of the bottom to win over the NFL leading team Washington Capitals by 4-3 on Monday night.

Rick Tocchet, coach of Arizona Coyotes said, “You are thinking as the coach of the team that we have got the point but we have blown our lead of 3 goals. Then you come back from the dead.”

Earlier Arizona Coyotes had a 3-0 lead which they blew in the final period to let the game slip in OT and it seemed that Oshie had beat them to the win. However, it was the goalkeeper of Coyotes, Raanta who made a total of 31 saves along with the one for keeping the puck against Oshie to hand the Coyotes their impressive win.

Raanta only tired to stay in the moment and prayed for Oshie’s goal to be the offside one as the goal was being reviewed. Coyotes’ players instead of letting their emotions get the best of them focused once more in the game.

Jason Demers, the defenseman of Coyotes said, “it is tough to feel good when you hear that you have 3 more minutes to play the game. I only think that the guys did a great job of straying completely locked in until the end.”
