Pacquiao VS Thurman; Manny Pacquiao wins over Keith Thurman by points decision to have the WBA welterweight crown

In the Saturday night mega-blockbuster fight between Manny Pacquiao and Keith Thurman for the WBA Super Welterweight belt, it was Pacquiao who defeated the previously unbeaten Thurman in Las Vegas at MGM Grand Arena.

The 40 years old Manny Pacquiao who fighting in this fight with his title of being a  regular WBA champion, was able to knock Thurman once in the opening round but had to go the whole fight to win by points.

Two judges scored in Pacquiao’s favor by 115-112 while the third one scored the 8-division champion from the Philippines to be 114-113.

Pacquiao said after the fight, “That knockdown at the start was a big factor.”  With this win, Pacquiao has become the oldest champion for the welterweight division.

Although Thurman accepted his defeat graciously, he still said that he would like to fight against Pacquiao once more.

He said, “I want to thank the fans and I also want to thank everybody who came here tonight. This was a beautiful night for boxing. Manny Pacquiao is truly a great champion. I wish I had a little more output to go toe-to-toe against him. I felt as if he was getting tired but he had the ring experience on his side. My coidntin98ingad n my output was all behind Pacquiao. I would love to have a rematch with him.”

With Pacquiao winning this fight, he now holds the career record of winning 62 fights out of 71 fights throughout his professional career. As for the 29 years old Thurman, this was the first defeat of his 30-fight career.

After the fight, Pacquiao also ended the speculation for his fight with Amir Khan as he said “I think my next fight will be next year as I am too busy this year. After this fight, I am going back to my country to work in the Senate.”
