In the last season, when Paul George left Indianapolis, he was booed by the crowd. He also got boos from the Lakers fans on Wednesday night game of Oklahoma City Thunder VS Los Angeles Lakers.
The Thunder’s tar learned from his past experience and silenced the crowd at the Staples Center with his incredible performance.
Paul George led the Thunder with his 37 points while he was jeered at whenever he touched the ball in the Lakers fans anger of not choosing Lakers in free agency. He still managed to lead the OKC’s win against the Lakers by 107-100.
His fellow teammate Russell Westbrook scored 14 points, 16 rebounds and had 10 assists for the night. This was the OKC’s first visit to Lakers this season.
George said, “I was prepared for that. I am the bad guy here and that is fine by me.”
Boos started early on since the pregame introductions. The fans of Lakers were angry because after becoming the free agency, he quickly re-signed with OKC Thunder’s again last summer.
George grew up while idolizing Kobe Bryant and rooted for both Lakers and Clippers in Palmdale, California which is a far-flung place of LA’s suburbia.
George talking about his decision to sign with OKC Thunder said, “I am not the only guy from SoCal area to not have decided to play with Lakers or Clippers. You can have the whole list of talented guys who did not play here. It is what it is. The decision has already been made. So, no ill will.”
As for the Lakers, they were led by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope who scored 25 points, 18 of which in the first half. Lakers are still playing in absence of LeBron James who is out due to his groin injury.
Up next, OKC Thunder’s ill play against the Trail Blazers on Friday while LA Lakers will host a game against the New York Knicks on Friday.
