With Lakers playing without LeBron James and Pistons defeating them on Friday night, media asked Pistons coach if they had wished that they were playing fully powered Lakers, he said,
“I wish our team could have played against either G League teams or high school teams. Unfortunately, we have got to play against the one who is here.”
Pistons took advantage of LeBron-less Lakers as André Drummond led the Pistons with his 19 points along with 23 rebounds to defeat them by 111-97. Lakers that have now fell of the Western Conference playoff ranking were playing with James sitting out the entire game.
Lakers were also playing without their other key players like Lonzo ball out with the left ankle injury, Tyson Chandler out with neck injury, Brandon Ingram out with right arm injury and Lance Stephenson out with toe injury.
Luke Walton, the Lakers coach said, “we had to play with pretty much everyone we had on reserve. We played hard enough to win but we did not make enough shots to win.”
James had not missed a game since February 2nd but he did not wear his team clothes for this game. He did create a buzz amongst fans behind one of the baskets during the first quarter. However, he walked away into the locker room at the start of the fourth quarter.
Up next, LA Lakers will be playing a game against the New York Knicks on Sunday night while Detroit Pistons will be playing a game against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night.
