Pugh scores 2 to lead US women to beat Australia by 5-3 in exhibition

Mallory Pugh, on her return to Colorado, scored 2 goals on what was a three-goal rally by the US women’s national team that allowed them to win over Australia by 5-3 in an exhibition match played on Thursday.

The early 2 goals were scored by Tobin Heath and Megan Rapinoe respectively in the starting minutes of the second half while Alex Morgan also scored a goal of US women team.

The US team is now 3-1-2 in their first 6 games of the Countdown to the Cup. Fr the Women’s World Cup in France that will be started from June 7th to July 7th, US only has about 4 games left to play.

The US team will be starting their defense of the World Cup against the Thailand team on coming June 11th which will be played in Reims, France.

On Thursday night, three goals of Australia were scored by Lisa De Vanna, Sam Kerr, and Caitlin Foord respectively.

This match at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Park was actually a homecoming match for Pugh and Lindsey Horan. Horan is the native of Golden, Colorado while Pugh is from Highlands Ranch.

When Pugh checked in for the game during the 2nd half, she received a loud standing ovation from the fans and she did not disappoint them as she scored a goal.
