Elise Mertens was a set and a break down against Simona Halep in the final of the Qatar Open but she made a remarkable come back to defeat the top seed Halep as she claimed the biggest title of her career.
Halep was looking to be in total control of the match at 6-3 and 2-0 but then the unseeded Belgian player broke back and took the match to a decider in Doha.
After that Mertens went on to win three matches as she prevailed over the Romanian Halep by 3-6, 6-4 and 6-3.
Mertens made it into the finals after defeating top brass like Kiki Bertens and Angelique Kerber in the tournament.
Her win after two and a-quarter hours gave her maiden WTA Premier Level crown and her fifth overall tour title.
