Rangers’ goalie throws stick at Alex Ovechkin in his attempt to goal and Capitals win without even scoring a goal

Nowadays in NHL, goalies seem to try out anything in order to stop the opposing team from making a goal. They have been trying something different each day since the entire history of NHL.

The same thing happened on Sunday when Alexander Georgieve, the Rangers goalie during a shootout tried to stop the Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin from putting the puck into the goal by throwing his stick at the puck.

This stick throw resulted in Ovechkin to not be able to maintain control over the puck and could not make the goal.

Ovechkin at first tried to fake Georgieve which resulted in him having a huge net for making the goal. However, Georgieve had other plans as he made one of the oddest ways to end the game.

The officials were also puzzled by this save from Georgieve and they called it a no goal at first. However, after a review was made, they giver Capitals a goal making it 3-2 in four round of the game. With this Capitals managed to win the game without even making a goal.

Georgieve said to media, “it is tough for me to explain the situation. He faked the shot and as a result, I went down earlier. He was moving latterly and instinctively I threw both my leg and stick towards him.”
