Cristiano Ronaldo, the 5 times winner and Lionel Messi were among the top 10 nominees for the FIFA Best Player of the Year award. As for the women’s best player of the year award, Megan Rapinoe of team US is the favorite in the category.
Messi and Ronaldo are being nominated alongside 3 of the Liverpool players; Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane. Liverpool won the title of the Champions League back in June.
In this list of the Best player of the year award, 2 of the Ajax player; Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong are also present who have long since joined other teams like Juventus and Barcelona. Other nominees for the award include Eden Hazard, the former forward of Chelsea who has now joined Ral Madrid, Harry Kane, the striker of Tottenham, and Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain.
As for the last year winner of the award Luka Modric, who won the award due to hi leading his Croatia to the finals of the World Cup was not included in this nominee list.
As for Rapinoe, she was one of the 12 players in the list of Best Female Player of the World award. The list includes her teammates Alex Morgan and Rose Lavelle. In addition to them, Ertz Ada Hegerberg a player of Norway who won the Ballon d’Or was also nominated in the category.
For the best coach of the year award category, Jürgen Klopp of Liverpool was nominated alongside Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola and Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino.
As for the award of the best coach in women’s soccer, US team’s Jill Ellis who has before stepping down helped team won back to back World Cup title was the favorite of the category.
