USADA, the UFC anti-doping partner in the sport is not playing soft. With back to back violations by the UFC fighters, harsh punishments have been served by their anti-doping program.
USADA (U.S. Anti Doping Agency) announced on Monday morning that the UFC fighter Ruslan Magomedov whose MMA career is 14-1 and UFC career is 3-0 has got the lifetime ban after he failed to pass the test taken back in last year’s fall. The punishment was served after he rejected to take another test back in February.
Under the UFC’s anti-doping program, a third-time violation results in a suspension at its minimum which is then doubled for a second violation. As for the maximum punishment, it is a permanent ban from the sport.
There are still no confirmed comments about this lifetime ban from UFC officials.
32 years old heavyweight Ruslan Magomedov tested positive for 5 different banned substances following out-of-competition drug urine test that was conducted back on October 10th, 2018. Two of these banned substances were methyltestosterone metabolites while the remaining 3 were the stanozolol metabolites. Both of these are infamous steroids and are banned by the USADA led anti-doping program all year round.
According to USADA, the 3rd violation was automatically triggered when Magomedov refused to the request of completing the sample collection process asked by a doping officer during his 2nd out-of-competition test that was to be conducted on February 5th, 2019. At that particular time, he was already suspended since October 10’s results.
Magomedov fouled out of the USADA testing first back in 2016 when both he and Zubaira Tukhugov failed their out-of-competition drug tests conducted in September of the year. At that time they were both tested positive for androgen receptor modulator (SARM) ostarine.
Magomedov was scheduled to be fighting against Marcos Rogerio de Lima at the UFC 230 but then pulled out due to this via issues reportedly. however after his drug test came positive, the story was out for him pulling out.
