Lewis Hamilton is back to his winning ways as he was able to give Mercedes its unexpected win at the Russian GP that was a disaster for Ferrari following retirement of Sebastian Vettel.
The race started in the controversial and breathless fashion where Vettel salted form his 3rd place on the pole to overtake Hamilton. As for Charles Leclerc, the pole sitter disregarded any instructions from his team to let him be backing past.
As for Mercedes, they took their time and then pounced on to the take the lead after German had to make a pit stop due to an engine fault.
Hamilton was able to jump ahead of Leclerc and so was Valtteri Bottas who had earlier pitted with Ferrari’s Monegasque driver a few laps before. Leclerc finished at third place with 1.3 seconds behind Mercedes Bottas.
For Hamilton, this was his first victory since the F1’s summer break and after that Ferrari’s three wins in a row. Now with this win, Hamilton now extends his world title lead over his teammate Bottas with his season high of 73 points along with taking the point for the fastest lap.
Hamilton has a chance to take 130 points from the final 5 races of the 2019’s season. Hamilton has a chance of winning his 6th title of the season as the Mexican GP is spoon to be held on October 27th.
Hamilton happily said to his team over radio, “What an effort guys. Thais is what we needed exactly. Never give up.”
Max Verstappen, of the Redbull raced in a solid manner to finish at 4th place whereas his teammate named Alex Albonb made a surge from the put lane to finish at 5th place.
