Selby VS Douglas; Lee Selby defeats Omar Douglas on points despite bad cuts over both eyes at The O2

On Saturday’s lightweight fight between Lee Selby VS, Omar Douglas at The O2 ended with Selby’s gritty points win despite suffering severe cuts on over both eyes.

Selby, the Welshman’s face was covered in blood most of the fight but he still displayed his impressive skills in the closing rounds as he completed a unanimous points decision win by scores of 116-112, 116-112 and 115-114.

Douglas’ crude intentions were clear from the opening bell as he started bullying Selby in the first round; unlading his big hooks.

Selby’s concern only increased when he suffered a big nasty cut over his right eye during the second round. This was the same injury that hindered Selby’s previous world title win against Warrington.

Despite suffering from this bad cut, Selby showed sharp counter punches to his opponent’s hooks. Selby managed to land an accurate right punch followed by clever left uppercuts.

Douglas was relentless in his efforts to bully Selby as he put another big cut over his left eye.

However, the 32 years old Selby maintained his composure as he bombarded Douglas with eye-catching shots to earn a hard-fought victory from three judges.
