According to the International Tennis Federation, Serbia and France have been given the wild card entries for the 2020 Davis Cup Finals tournament.
They will be joining the other 4 semifinalists from this year’s revamped Davis Cup Finals, which are Canada, Britain, Spain, and Russia.
Serbia got defeated by Russia during the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup Finals whereas France got eliminated between the group stages.
The revamped version of Davis Cup Finals is looking at 18 teams with 1 team getting eliminated each week in 1 city and three matches in the per tie. This revamped Davis Cup Finals is being played for the first time as a 25 years-long partnership between ITF and the Kosmos, which is the investment group co-founded by the start of Barcelona; Gerard Piqué. The overall purpose of this revamped Davis Cup Finals was to make the traditional team competitor be more lucrative and attractive.
The draw for the 2020 Davis Cup Finals will be held in Madrid this Sunday.
